Bolt loads are determined by a number of factors, including seal line load, internal pressure, torque around the joint, additional axial loads, and joint deflection.
When calculating the bolt load, start with the formula T = (.2)df
Where: T = torque in pounds; d = normal bolt diameter in inches; f = axial bolt load in pounds.
